A Legacy Forged in Steel

Serving Dubbo and Beyond With Custom Ute Trays & Canopies

Our story began right here in Dubbo, building practical, hard wearing solutions for local tradies, farmers and business owners. Among the early faces in the workshop was Jason, who began his career here as an apprentice. After learning the ropes and gaining hands-on experience, he set out to broaden his skills in body building, manufacturing and fabrication before returning with a fresh perspective and renewed drive.

Back home in Dubbo, Jason dedicated the next 25 years to perfecting the craft, mentoring new tradespeople and earning the trust of customers across the region. When the time came, he proudly took ownership of the business, continuing its legacy under the Dubbo City Welding Works name.

Today, that same dedication runs through every build we create. Customers travel from across the Central West, including Mudgee, Orange, Bathurst, Parkes, Forbes, Condobolin, Cobar, Bourke and Lightning Ridge, to have their vehicles fitted out right here in Dubbo. Every tray, canopy and toolbox is crafted from Australian made steel and built to thrive in local conditions. We focus on RHS steel tray bases with aluminium floors, ensuring there are no c-sections, gaps or joins where mud or moisture can collect and cause rust. From the first weld to the final polish, our team stands behind every job with pride.

Proudly Local, Strongly Connected

Supporting Dubbo and Regional NSW

Our connection to the community runs as deep as the steel we weld. Since 1973, we’ve grown alongside Dubbo and the Central West by building trusted relationships with tradies, farmers, fleet operators and families. Each fitout carries a piece of that shared history and our lightweight trays are integral to this legacy.

We take on apprentices from the region, guiding the next generation of tradespeople with hands-on experience. Our team currently consists of 10 dedicated members, ranging from seasoned experts to apprentices, all committed to delivering quality craftsmanship. We also partner closely with local dealerships and fleet operators to keep regional businesses moving efficiently. And we show up for the community in everything we do, from projects that support local industries to the personalised service our customers have come to expect.
